Up to the Sixities Tirano used to be a land of smugglers and its trails were frequently the scene of thrilling chases between border force officers and the smugglers themselves.
A ring route has been created on those same trails, known as the Smuggling and Memory Trail. It is the perfect place to go for a hike in the mountains, breathe pure fresh air and admire beautiful panoramas of the town of Tirano!
A taxi will drive you to Piazzo, the little village where this beautiful trekking trail begins, winding halfway on the mountain slope through vineyards, history and breath-taking views.
