These are only some of the well-known itineraries of the Giro d'Italia, which each cyclist would like to ride at least once in a lifetime.
In addition to these routes, the Sentiero Valtellina, the 114-km bike path from Bormio up to Lake Como, and the Via dei Terrazzamenti Retici, a panoramic trail winding through the terraced vineyards and the ancient cellars of the Valtellina, offer a spectacular way of enjoying our beautiful land by bike.

During their rest break Carolina e Francesco are walking along the Sentiero Valtellina with their little Leo and Tiago. Betty is enjoying a bike tour on the Via dei Terrazzamenti and Giancarlo is walking among vineyards, fancying the forthcoming grape harvest.

DISTRICT HEATING

A GREEN CITY

Tirano is the first green town in Valtellina.
Most domestic and non-domestic buildings are supplied by a heat network: a distribution system that takes heat from a central source and delivers it all around. The heat source provides a dedicated supply to the network, in this case providing heat for domestic water recovered from waste local plants.  
This facility provides a unique opportunity to exploit a renewable and recovered heat source that otherwise cannot be used. Heat networks are also one of the most cost-effective ways of reducing carbon emissions and their efficiency and carbon-saving potential increase as they grow and connect to each other.
The Curt di Clement is connected to this great network of green energy, of course.

WATER POWER

VALTELLINA’S GREEN ENERGY

The Valtellina is a land full of history, tradition and culture, but also full of water. During the last decades a large quantity of this water has been canalized and stored in huge dams, such as the Cancano dams in Valdidentro valley, to feed many hydroelectric power stations throughout the Valtellina.
We are proud of our Certificato Verde RePower: RePower Green Certificate: the Court di Clement is entirely supplied by the nearby hydroelectric power station in Grosio.

THE TASTE OF TRADITION

We do believe in the passion that guides and inspires our local farmers and breeders in the Alps every single day.
For this reason breakfast is only made of local homegrown produce at our Eco-friendly Hotel in order to  promote the best produce of the Valtellinese short supply chain: fruit, honey, rye and buckwheat bread, milk, cheese, eggs, the “bresaola” and other homemade specialties.
A good beginning bodes well, don’t you think?

Dear bikers, welcome to the Curt di Clement! We have prepared an Eco Bike Room for your faithful travelling companions.
You will find a huge bike storeroom provided with service centre, bike wash and charging stations for any kind of E-bike of course.
It is also possible to eco-friendly wash your sports clothes.

AN ECO-FRIENDLY VILLA

A DIVE IN THE PAST

Curt di Clement dates back to 16th Century and it was completely refurbished in 2020.
The ancient stone walls boost the natural cooling of the rooms, especially in summer: in this way air-conditioning has been installed just in few areas of the hotel, enhancing further energy saving as well.
During refurbishment works we have used natural and eco-friendly materials as much as possible, reusing some of the original furniture as well.
We recycle the beauty, isn’t it fantastic?

ORGANIC VEGETABLE GARDEN

THE FRUITS OF THE LAND

A plot of our garden has been dedicated to organic horticulture. A magical and tranquil place, where Giancarlo peacefully grows fruit trees and little vegetables that will be used in our kitchen.
Nature has really so much to offer here in Valtellina: come and see with your own eyes!

Our concept eco-friendly transport embraces all forms of green transport options able to appreciably reduce CO2 emissions in the atmosphere.
If you reach us by electric car, you will easily charge your vehicle using our EV charging stations situated just in front of the Hotel.

We know well how much plastic is responsible for environment pollution: for this reason we favour plastic-free items when choosing furniture and supplies and usually substitute plastic with other materials such as glass.

CARE FOR DETAILS

Difference often lies in details.
With the need to improve our environment, we have chosen to be eco-friendly also in little things: for this reason the Eco-friendly Amenity kits you will find in your Eco-friendly Rooms contain environmentally friendly items, such as vegetable bar soaps, organic shampoo and body wash, as well as eco-friendly packaging for vanity sets and shower caps (100% recycled paper or 100% recycled plastic).
Sometimes, small changes like these can really make a big difference, don’t you think?

ECO-FIENDLY CLEANING KIT

GREEN CLEANING

We actively promote sustainability and one way we do this is by ensure we always use eco-friendly cleaners in our Hotel. This is one of the first steps towards a greener future. Our environmentally friendly cleaning products are designed to cut down on packaging as well as chemical impact.
We have also decided to swap normal cleaning products in our laundry for more natural or environmentally friendly alternatives. We sometimes miss our grandmothers gathered around the many washhouses of the village, but we are doing our best now in order to avoid energy and water waste.

RECYCLING

LET’S SE PA RATE THEM ALL

Undifferentiated waste, glass, plastic, metal, waste paper.
It is of fundamental importance to collect certain wastes separately to help prepare waste for re-use, recycling or other recovery operations.
At Curt di Clement we have provided each room and all communal areas of the hotel with recycling bins.
The future of our Planet depends only on us and on our everyday choices.

COMPOST

LET’S REDUCE THE REDUCIBLE

The daily routine in our kitchen includes using many produce such as fruit and vegetable or other organic ingredients that can be easily composted.
In this way we can appreciably reduce the traditional disposal of solid waste and help take care of our Planet.

RECYCLED PAPER

IDEAS IN CIRCLE

In order to tell you our story, we mainly use digital channels to reduce cellulose consumption.
But we sometimes like leafing through some pages about the Valtellina and our Eco-Friendly Hotel as well as reading printed leaflets.
To do that – and in cooperation with some local printers -  we only use recycled paper following natural and certified supply chains.
Ah! We always use both sides of the sheet before throwing it in the wastepaper bin: do you do that too?
